Children like cars for many reasons, but when they are small one of the things that excites them the most about these vehicles are the noises that cars make. You may think that cars only really make one sound, but different kinds of cars make all kinds of sounds that children find interesting.

We begin our noise-filled celebration of cars with a police car. There is something about the yowl of a police car’s “WHEEOW” siren that is practically magnetic to people of all ages. Heads turn when a police car goes by, its siren sound following in its wake.

Head also turn when an “old jalopy” goes by making its “CHITTYCHITTY” and “SHHPPPTTT” noises, and who can resist the roar of a hot rod. Pickup trucks also make intriguing sounds, and the deafening “KR-KR” of a monster truck delights audiences of all ages.

In all little children get to experience the sounds of eight different cars in this book. The last one is the most intriguing, and this is the one where children might like to come up with a noise or sound of their own.
