Many people imagine that elephants, the largest land mammals alive today, are slow and lugubrious animals who don’t do much. In actual fact, elephants are very active animals with complex social lives. Among other things, they travel long distances, look for food, make friends, have baths, and take care of their young. The babies like to play and goof around, much like human youngsters do.

In this charming board book, John Schindel’s minimal text, and Martin Harvey’s gorgeous photos give little children a charming picture of the lives of African elephants. As they look at the pictures, they will see that elephants are “Busy, busy” animals.
