One perfectly ordinary day Bruno the cat is walking down the street when suddenly, for no apparent reason, his ordinary day becomes a peculiar one, and this is what happens. There he is, walking along when a fish appears, swimming in the air, right in front of him. Bruno and the fish comment on the strangeness of this situation and then Bruno goes into Gloria’s shop, with the fish swimming alongside him.

Gloria offers the fish some milk, who is willing to try it. Unfortunately, it turns out that milk does not agree with fish, which shouldn’t really surprise anyone. The fish is lying on the floor looking decidedly unwell when Ringo, the old pony, walks into the store backwards. It would appear that he too is having a very strange day. For some reason the only way he can walk on this particular day is bottom first.

When the little fish starts gasping, Bruno and Ringo rush to get her back in the river, which is when their day becomes even more peculiar.

It is delightfully unique book we get to share six very different days with Bruno. In addition to having a peculiar day, he has a rainy day, a day when the power goes out, a stupid day (which actually turns into a rather nice day), a rather boring day, and finally an “almost perfect day.” Readers never know what to expect as they read through this book, which is packed full of surprises, silliness, good times, and good friends.
