Ben Loves Bear
Board Book
For ages 2 to 4
Harry N. Abrams, 2013 ISBN: 978-1419703867
It is morning and Bear and Ben wake up to the sound of birdsong. They begin their day by having breakfast. The little boy and his teddy bear friend love one another dearly and do everything together. Ben in his high chair eats some cereal and Bear sits on the table and eats honey out of a honey pot.
Before they get dressed, Ben and Bear play a game of hide-and-seek and then Bear laughs when Ben tickles him and Ben laughs when Bear does some amusing tricks. Ben then gets dressed, with Bears’s help. The little bear is lucky because he is “already dressed” in a soft furry coat, which is very convenient.
The two friends then set off to play outside where adventures await them.
In this charming board book David McPhail pairs simple short sentences with expressive illustrations to give little children an warm, engaging narrative that they will be able to identify with straight away.
