Every day Sea Slug lies on the ocean floor watching fish swim by, and he sees fish in all colors, shapes, and sizes. He believes that he has seen every form of fish there is until he sees Barry. Barry is a very unusual fish because he has fingers instead of fins.

Barry believes that fingers “are the answer to every fish’s problem.” When the other fish tell Barry that they are bored, Barry shows them that his fingers help to make his life full and interesting. He can give a finger puppet show, play a piano, and so much more. Fingers are absolutely necessary if you want to tickle someone. Then Barry shows the other fish that fingers have more than entertainment value.

Children are sure to enjoy this bright, colorful, and sweetly entertaining book. They will see that there is a lot to be said for thinking outside of the box, and for doing things in a new way.
