Most of us, at some point, wish we could be something other than what we are. If only we could be a superhero or the most popular kid in school. If only we could be a firefighter or an EMT, someone who saves lives and is admired by all. Babymouse imagines herself into all sorts of roles, frequently. At the moment she wishes she could be a rock star. She is thoroughly fed up with her mundane life having to take out the garbage, ride on the school bus with Felicia Furrypaws (the scariest cat in school), and being an abysmal flute player in music class.
It is this last problem which has Babymouse really worried. The concert is coming up soon and Babymouse really doesn't want to have to sit in the last chair again where no one can see her. How can she improve her playing so that she isn't the worst flute player in the band? Luckily help comes from an unexpected quarter, and furthermore Babymouse is able to put that highly advanced imagination of hers to great use to further her goals.
Once again Babymouse charms her readers with her delightful wit and her rampant imaginings. She is so easy to identify with and her ongoing side conversations with the ?reader' – who isn't always sympathetic – are highly amusing.
This is the fourth book in the Babymouse series and it perfectly captures the character of a little girl with big dreams and high hopes who is constantly struggling in a world full of boring classes, bullies, chores, and annoying little brothers.
