Little children, even infants, love animals, which is why so often their favorite stuffed toy is a bear, duck, cat or other creature. They are drawn to animals that are furry, that have large eyes, that have funny looking feet and beaks, and often one of their first words is the name of an animal.

In this book babies and toddlers will find eight black and white illustrations of animals that have spots or stripes. The juxtaposition of black and white colors, the shapes, the stripes and the spots will give babies things to look at that will help them “develop their eyesight.”

Toddlers will enjoy learning to recognize the animals on the pages. On the last two pages there is a color spread showing two little children playing with animal toys. Older children will start to notice that the toys in this picture and the black and white animals they saw earlier in the book look a lot alike.
