There are so many things to look forward to in the fall. There are apple boughs to shake, falling leaves to count, busy wild animals to watch, leaf piles to play in, Thanksgiving to look forward to, and the cycle of nature to admire. There are also some things that we might not like so much like going back to school, “woolen clothes,” and “winds that gust.”

In this entertaining collection of poems of all kinds the author perfectly captures the essence of fall; its smells, sounds, tastes, and colors. Readers will love the way the author uses words to tell a story and to capture an emotion. He manages to make poetry fun, easy to read, and accessible. Young poets may find themselves feeling inspired to try writing a line or two themselves when they see that poetry can take all kinds of forms.

This book is one of the titles in a collection of seasonal books written by Douglas Florian.
