Even though her father and mother, and her little brother and sister are all asleep, the little girl just cannot seem to fall asleep herself. She lies in her bed listening to the sounds of her family breathing in their sleep, unable to even close her eyes. And then a breeze comes through the window and it is as if she has been invited by the breeze to join it up, up, on the roof in the open air, under the stars and the moon.
The little girl gathers up her pillows, a sheet, and her blanket and up on to the roof of her city home she goes. From there she can see the city and she can finally have some peace where she can think... and fall asleep.
Anyone who has felt closed in by four walls will be able to appreciate this very simple yet unique little story which captures a precious moment in a young child’s life. Not only do we feel things as the little girl does, but we also see something that she does not, the care and love of a watchful parent.
Beautifully illustrated in ink and watercolor, this little book is a delightful little treasure to share with children during those special and close moments.
