The grandkids have come for a visit, and as Grandma puts it "they picked the right day." It is morning on the farm and Grandpa is in the kitchen making breakfast. One by one his grandchildren come into the house exclaiming about some calamity that has truck in the farm yard. First the "cows have got loose," then "the chickens are out," after which the pigs make a run for it followed by the goats and the sheep. Throughout this litany of disaster Grandpa smiles and keeps on preparing his breakfast. After all it is April first and he expects his grandchildren to try to make him into and April fool.

What Grandpa does not expect is that it is his gentle wife who ends up catching him out.

Catchy rhyming text and funny illustrations perfectly capture the ridiculousness of April Fools Day, and the reader is certainly inspired to try a little April Foolishness of his or her own.
