It is Christmastime and Annie is going to be performing in a school play. She is going to be a star in the play, and will wear a lovely glittery star-shaped costume. Though Annie is excited about her coming performance, she is also nervous. She calls up her cousin Henry to tell him her news, and then she asks if she can perform for Henry and his dog Mudge. Perhaps if she practices enough, she will be able to get rid of her stage fright.

Practicing in front of Henry and Mudge does help - for a while - but then Annie’s nerves come back. How is Annie going to go on stage when she feels so scared?

In this Ready-To-Read title, Cynthia Rylant not only gives beginner readers an engaging story to read, but she also shows them how to cope when they are faced with something that they are afraid to do. Overcoming stage fright - or any other kind of fright for that matter - isn’t easy. Thankfully, Annie comes up with a great strategy that could work in all kinds of situations.
