Stella and her little brother Sam are at home together and as usual Sam is up to all sorts of things. Stella, being a pro at being a big sister, accepts that Sam is going to do what Sam is going to do. Instead of fussing she watches him and asks him questions about what he is doing.
Sam begins by going snorkeling in the bathtub and by proving that dogs do not need to have swimming lessons to know how to swim. He then goes on to play hide-and-seek with his dog Fred and Fred, being a rather superior sort of dog, has no difficulty finding his little master. Next Sam sets about teaching Fred how to read. Since Stella has told him that dogs “need glasses” to learn how to read, Fred finds a pair which he perches on the end of Fred’s nose.
In this truly delightful addition to the “Stella and Sam” books children will have a wonderful time sharing in all of Sam’s little adventures and they will perfectly understand his motives and his methods. Grownups will be hard pressed not to smile at the engaging and true to life conversations that take place between the young brother and sister. The charming story is perfectly matched with Marie-Louise Gay’s atmospheric and one-of-a-kind multi media artwork
