Poppleton Everyday

Cynthia Rylant

Illustrated by Mark Teague

Fiction (Series)

Ages 6 to 8

Scholastic, 1997, 0-590-84853-4

Poppleton and his new friend Hudson are sitting in front of the fire one evening when Hudson suggests that they go outside to look at the night sky. The two friends take two blankets out with them and then they lie on the grass. Unfortunately, Poppleton discovers that looking at stars makes him dizzy. Luckily, Hudson is a very clever mouse, and he comes up with a solution that works very well.

In this delightful trio of stories, beginner readers get to enjoy three adventures with Poppleton, a pig who knows what he wants, who has a sense of humor, and who is lucky enough to have some wonderful friends in his life. The language used in the stories is easy and at the same time, it will challenge young readers to learn new words. By combining humor and everyday experiences Cynthia Rylant gives her readers tales that are very accessible.
