It’s Summer!

It is summer and I spend many of my days outside watching the birds and insects, making little mud houses and feeling the mud suck at our toes in “a squishy way.” I go to the beach or the pool to cool off in the water and often I have to get out the hose to water the garden so that the flowers and the vegetables can have a good drink.
Summer is bug season when the mosquitoes come out and when I put fireflies in jars to watch them “glow” before I “lift off the lid and let it go.” It is also a time when powerful thunderstorms can rock the skies, crashing and booing for a short while to be followed by fresh skies and a rainbow.
This unique picture book with its wonderful rhymes and its delightful three dimensional cut-paper illustrations provides readers with a ‘picture’ of summer life complete with the season’s moods, its natural beauties, and its activities. At the back of the book the author includes some ideas of what the reader can do during the summer months in a section entitled “Nature Activities to do when It’s Summer.”
