How hot was it?
Jane Barclay
Illustrated by Janice Donato
Picture Book
Ages 3 to 5
Lobster Press, 2003, 189422270-9
Everyone is feeling hot today. Right from the moment the boy woke up he felt hot. He soon discovers others who are feeling the same way. There is Dog who pants with it, Dad who frets because of it, everyone in his class who wiggle and squirm and try to find a way to stay cool. This is a book for those hot days when even you skin feels too hot to wear, when things are "sizzling, fizzling," "roasting, toasting," muggy, sluggy." Best of all we discover that there are ways to make such a day bearable. In fact there are ways to make such days are downright fun. This is a playful picture book which would be perfect for read-aloud at bedtime or in a classroom.
