July was named after Julius Caesar, the famous Roman Emperor and general who was born in this month. July is typically the hottest month of the year and it is a time to spend outdoors and in the water. This is a time of year when sunflowers look their best, when hummingbirds are commonly seen in gardens, and when all kinds of insects fill the air with the buzzing of their wings and their nighttime songs.
In this excellent book the author paints a truly delightful and fascinating picture of the month of July. We learn about the birthstone, the flower, and the signs of the zodiac that are attributed to this month. We find out that many special holidays occur in July and that many famous personalities from world history celebrated their birthday in this month.
This is a perfect book to dip into as the warm days of July slip by.
