Marion Bataille

Pop-up Book

For ages 5 and up

Roaring Brook Press, 2008, 1-59643-425-2

If you think that all alphabet books are basically the same then you are in for a big surprise. In this unique pop-up creation Marion Batille presents her readers with the alphabet in a stunning three dimensional format. Not only that, but she finds wonderfully original ways to do so. On some of the pages the red, white, or black letters are alone, while on others there are two or four letters on the page. For example on the E and F page, as you start opening the page you can see the letter E, and by the time the page is fully open you see F instead. Some of the letters are basic and elegant in their simplicity, while others make your eyes swirl and inspire a feeling of awe.

Pop-up fans, both young and old, will love to explore this delightful title, and they will be delighted to add it to their collection or personal library.
