A young bunny is out exploring a cottage garden and she sees all kinds of things as she hops down the paths, among the shrubs and flowers, and on the grass. We are going to go with her to explore the colors and the flowers that she sees. There are the red poppies and the yellow primroses, the purple violets, and the vibrant green of the grass with “clover in between.”
Written in verse this book not only looks at certain flower types and their colors but it also explores the world of a beautiful cottage garden using splendid descriptive language and beautifully rich illustrations. Readers will be left wishing that they too could visit this garden to smell the rich perfumes, to touch the soft petals, and to gaze at the vibrant colors.
In this picture book Linda Sue Park shows that she is not only a superb novelist but that she is also able to turn a simple little story into a wonderful exploration of imagery, language, and sound.
