Picture Book

Weezer is a perfectly normal puppy. He chews his little boy’s toys, he barks at the clock, and every so often he has an accident on the carpet. Then one day Weezer is struck by lightning and he becomes a very different sort of dog. Instead of playing fetch and chewing dog toys, Weezer starts to do things that other dogs don’t seem to know how to do. He helps Billy with his homework, and he saves his owners from making terrible decorating mistakes. As he gets older, Weezer’s abilities get even more astonishing. He is able to predict storms, and he comes up with ways to clean water and air. He even gets world leaders to talk about Peace on Earth. What else is this astonishing dog going to do?
This delightful picture book explores the idea that sometimes the most unpretentious and humble of beings can bring about great change. It is always a good idea to have an open mind, and to believe that perhaps miracles really can happen.
With delightfully simple and unaffected illustrations, and a minimal but meaningful text, David McPhail gives his readers a book that is truly a treasure.
