One day the mole sisters see something truly wonderful in a clearing in the woods; they see a fairy ring of little toadstools. They are very quiet but the fairies are not at the ring at the moment so the mole sisters decide to pretend to be fairies themselves.

They decorate themselves with flowers and with little grass skirts, and with the help of a little fairy dust the mole sisters imagine that they look just like a pair of dainty fairies.

Next they try a little fairy dancing and twirling but this turns out to be a lot more uncomfortable and strenuous than one would think. The mole sisters decide that perhaps they should stick to being what they were meant to be - a pair of moles.

Little children who dream of finding a fairy circle will love this tale and will laugh out loud when they see what happens to the mole sisters when they try the fairy dance. There is no doubt that this little pair of creatures are not only delightfully endearing, funny, and appealing, but they also remind us that one of the most enjoyable things to do in life, is to try new things, even when they don't work out the way we expect them to.

Roslyn Schwartz's simple tales are perfectly set off by her charming and warm pencil drawings with her little moles and their gentle smiles.
