It is fall, and the principal at Mouseville School, Mr. Mouser, has decided that the children in his school are going to learn about apples. To “get things started” there is going to be a contest. The mouse child who brings in the biggest apple will win the contest.
Both Clayton and his friend Desmond are determined to find the biggest apple, and when the class goes to visit an apple orchard the next day, both the young mice have high hopes that they will find the winning apple. Desmond and Clayton find a large apple, which they decide to share, but James finds one that is even bigger. Perhaps Clayton and Desmond should just accept that they are not going to win the contest after all. Perhaps they can do something else with the apples that they have found.
Children are sure to enjoy this seasonal tale, which stars two young mice who learn that there is more than one way to be a winner.
This is one in a series of picture books about the Mouseville mice and their adventures.
