The history of the American Revolution is complicated, and sometimes it is also daunting. How can one remember all those dates, and all those names of places and leaders? The wonderful thing is that one doesn’t have to. In this picture book the author presents the American Revolution in an alphabet book format. She has carefully chosen important places, events and people to describe, and the book she has written is both interesting and informative.

Every letter of the alphabet includes a section of text that is just long enough to give the reader some information, without being so long that young readers lose interest. A painting accompanies each section of text, giving the eye something to enjoy as well. Examples of topics that are discussed include: “L is for the Liberty Bell,” “M is for Molly Pitcher,” “S is for spy,” and “V is for Valley Forge.”

This is an excellent title for young readers who are just beginning to explore history.
