Percy Isaac Gifford is a pro when it comes to enjoying the annual Thanksgiving meal. Though the feast is the high point of the day, he understands that there are certain things he has to do before he can partake, heavily, of the Thanksgiving buffet. So, Percy helps to cook and to clean, he wears the clothes his mother wants him to wear, he greets the guest with a short but sweet “hello.” Then, at long last, he gets down to the series business of filling that big hole in his belly.

Though it may seem that this story is all about eating, it is also about sharing in the Thanksgiving traditions that many families share. At the end of the day, when Percy’s stomach is finally full, he has one more vital rule to share with his audience. He saves the best of last.

In this holiday picture book the delightful multimedia artwork perfectly compliments Laurie Friedman’s clever rhyming text.
