One winter morning Mouse wakes up and when he looks outside he sees that it is an “icy, lacy, snow-flaky day!” On the telephone wire in front of the house three cold birds are wishing they were in warm Mexico, while inside the house the children are thrilled that they are going to have a snow day. No school! They get busy making cookies and when they decorate their creations with candy, a gumdrop drops to the floor. Mouse is just about to get the gumdrop (and Cat is just about to get Mouse) when Mom sweeps Mouse, Cat, and the gumdrop out of the door and into the snowy morning.

Mouse has a wonderful time first skating on a puddle and then sledding. He forgets that Cat is outside too. Thankfully, the birds on the telephone wire see the danger and they warn Mouse. Snow from the telephone wire lands on Cat’s head and Mouse is saved.

Mouse enjoys the snow for a while longer before he goes indoors where he warms up and has a snack, which is when he remembers something, something very important.

In this splendid picture book children share a grand adventure with Mouse and they also see how Mouse, who is a very decent little fellow, finds a way to return a favor.

This is one in a series of books that Judy Cox has written about Mouse.
