It is a grey day in a grey and rather dull looking world. And then something wonderful happens - it begins to snow. At least the little boy says "it’s snowing" but all the grownups insist that is won’t last, or that it will melt. Luckily for the little boy snowflakes don’t listen to grownups who don’t know what they are talking about. So many snowflakes fall in fact that soon the whole city is white and beautiful.

Just when things look perfect a little magic starts to happen and the little boy shares a delightful time with some very unexpected playmates.

With a minimum of text and the most remarkable artwork, the author conveys how magical a snowfall can be to a small child and how even the most negative grownups cannot take that magic away.

This book was a Caldecott Honor title and the winner of the Golden Kite Award.
