Many little children learn things best when they use their eyes, ears, and sense of touch all together. They learn the word “dog” when there is a dog to play with. They learn the word “light” when someone turns a light on and off for them.

In this novelty title, Salina Yoon introduces young children to five commonly seen colors. On each of the thick and sturdy board double page spreads, the word of the color is given, which is accompanied by a picture of two things that are that color. In addition, there is a colorful circular tab of foil-covered board that children can slide across the page. The child can either tip the book to make the tab move, or he or she can move it across the page using his or her fingers. As the tab slides from side to side, it make a satisfying rattling sound.

With a little handle to carry it around, this novelty title is part toy, part book, and it is a great tool for adults to use to help their children learn the names of some colors.
