Welcome one and all to the Animal Antics race. It is a lovely day here on the beach and the race is about to begin. A zebra, waving a green flag, calls out “One your marks, get set…GO!” and the animals are off. What is different about this race is that all the competitors are getting from the start to the finish using a conveyance of some kind. Some are going by land, some by sea, and a few are even taking to the air!
Here at the starting line we see a polar bouncing off on a pogo stick, two turkeys riding a tandem bicycle, three gorillas in a gondola, and four walruses in a wheelbarrow. If you think this is strange, look out for the five rhinos on roller skates and the nine hippos in a hot-air balloon!
Though some of the animals are using their own muscles to get them to the finish, others are choosing to race in vehicles such as double-decker bus, a limousine, a ferry, and jet skis.
With flaps to open on every page, this counting adventure is sure to delight young children. The animal characters in the race are often comical, and pair of little mice who appear on every spread are the prefect spectators. Other characters also come and go as the race progresses, and a clever little snail finds a way to complete the whole race without having to do any work at all!
