Maisy mouse has, over the years, had all kinds of adventures with her friends. Now she wants to help little children to learn their numbers. Thankfully, Maisy is a very creative mouse person and so she knows how to make learning enjoyable.

We begin with the number one and straight away we know that this numbers journey is not going to be boring at all, for there is Maisy sitting on the back of “One stripy tiger,” and she is waving her arms and telling the tiger to “Go, go, go!” The tiger does not seem to mind. In fact, it is smiling.

Maisy then introduces us to two “strolling tortoises.” Actually she is riding on the back of one of the tortoises. They too are delighted to be helping Maisy.

For number three we see Maisy who is with three butterflies that “Flitter, flutter, fly” across the page, and the pages for numbers four and five are full of animals too.

Our number adventure ends with a double page spread showing Maisy and all her new animal friends, and children can practice counting everything that they see.

Once again Lucy Cousins has created a book for young children that they are going to love. With its bright illustrations and its loveable mouse character, this is a book that will both entertain and teach.
