Our world is full of colors of all kinds. There are bright colors and soft colors, and there is one color that is so common that we don’t notice it that much; the color black. Black can be associated with all kinds of textures, tastes, and smells, some of which we will find in this book.

We begin our exploration of the color black by looking at beautiful gentle-eyed black rabbit whose fur, which we can touch, is soft. Another black that is nice to touch is the velvet of “dress up disguises.” Then there are black things that smell and taste good, such as “sweet licorice treats.” When we scratch the photo of one of the licorice swirls we can smell the delicious aroma of the candy. Our little exploration ends with a magician’s black hat, which contains a special surprise.

In this clever novelty title children can touch a variety of textures surfaces, they can scratch and sniff a picture, and they can lift a flap. With wonderful photos throughout and a simple yet engaging text, this book is sure to delight children who enjoy exploring the world around them.
