Everywhere you look in our world there are lines, but often we are so busy, so wrapped up in ourselves that we don’t even notice that they are there. The funny thing is that these lines often serve a very important purpose, so we really should notice them.

In this clever wordless novelty board book, a die cut line placed in the center of the book shows young children how lines influence our world. On every spread cut-paper side view illustrations are paired with the die cut line to great effect to help children see that lines are present in places that they might not even notice.

For example, the first illustration shows us an arrow. The die-cut line serves as the shaft of the arrow, and illustrations complete the image with an arrow head at one end and feathers at the other. Next we see a clothes hanger, and there again is a straight line. This time the line is at the bottom of the clothes hanger. Without that line the clothes hanger would be a lot less useful than it is. Other lines in the book include the board part of a see-saw, a chopstick, the top of a table, and a bridge that crosses over water.
