Ferdinand Magellan

Ferdinand Magellan was a Portugese explorer who explored the world for Spain in the early 1500's. He was the first to cross the Pacific Ocean and the first to circumnavigate the globe. The Straight of Magellan, off the southern tip of South America, is named for him.
