If you are at loose ends and are looking for something to do with your life you could do worse than join George Washington's Continental Army. After all, it would be an act of patriotism and you don't need to have many skills other than being able to ride a horse and shoot a musket. Of course, you have to keep in mind that you may not see your family and friends for a long while and there always is that chance than you may not come home at all.
Once you are accepted into the army you will be fed, clothed, and sometimes you may receive the pay that is due you. You can expect to have to complete many hours of training and drill, during which time you will learn how to use your weapons, how to march, and how to fight. Naturally there are going to be hard times as well. Food can be scarce, especially during the winter, and you may get injured.
In this excellent volume readers will find themselves being transported back to the days when America was fighting for its independence. Easy to read text is well matched with beautifully executed and heavily annotated illustrations to provide the reader with a wealth of information, which is presented in such a way as to give the reader the feeling that he or she is living in the late 1700's.
