We are going to explore tropical rainforests around the world, and you had better prepare yourself, because these places are bursting with all kinds of wonderful and extraordinary plants and animals.

Here we are in Africa. We can just see the back end of a furry animal that appears to be hiding in some long grass. The mostly hidden animal tells us that “I can hold things with my hands and feet” and that it can “walk on all fours.” What can the animal be? Lower the flap and you will see a mother gorilla with her baby.

Further along in the book, we are in South America. We can see something peaking out at us through some leaves. The animal has a strong beak and “colorful feathers.” Can you guess what this animal is? Open up the pages and you will see three gorgeous parrots.

This wonderful novelty board book introduces young children to a few of the fascinating animals that live in tropical rainforests. Readers are given a few written and visual clues that they can use to try to identify the mostly hidden animals. Then they can open pages or lift a flap to find out if they were right or not. The simple text and colorful illustrations are complimented by a section in the back of the book that provides readers with further information about rainforest animals.
