We are going to look at some shapes and you are going to be amazed to discover how many familiar shapes there are in our everyday lives. Look at your shirt or dress and you might find that there are lots of shapes on it: round buttons, a square pocket, or a heart shaped motif.

In this book, we are going to explore six different kinds of shapes: circles, squares, triangles, ovals, stars, and hearts. On each double page spread, the reader is invited to identify the shape that they are seeing in the photographs in front of them. Then they can open a fold-in page and the answer pops-up at them – literally!

So, for example, on the third double-page photograph spread, we see pictures of a shark's tooth, a warming sign, and a pizza slice. The book asks us "What's the shape?" Then, when we open the fold-in page, we are presented with the pop-up answer – a large triangle. In addition to identifying the shapes, readers are also asked to count how many triangles there are on the pages, and to identify the color of the pop-up triangle. So, readers, get ready to practice counting and identifying colors as well.

The same format is used on every double-page spread, and even if they know the answer to the "What's the shape?" question, children will love opening up the pop-up page to see the big shape fold out in front of their eyes.

Bright colors, robust and heavy card pages, and a clever format make this a perfect book for little children.
