One would think that being a queen of Faery would be a wonderful thing, and there are times when Aislinn is glad that she is now the queen of the faerie Summer Court. The hope is that with her help, the various Faery courts will be able to keep the peace and avoid war. There are problems though. Aislinn is now immortal and she is in love with a human, Seth. If she does not control her powers, Aislinn burns her boyfriend when she touches him. She also cannot help thinking about the fact that Seth will die one day, and Aislinn will have to go on without him.

Aislinn’s situation is further complicated by the fact that the faery side of her is drawn to the Summer King, Keenan. They rule the Summer Court together, and Aislinn wants them to be partners and friends but nothing else. She is afraid that her strong attraction for Keena will threaten the love that she feels for Seth.

After Aislinn is injured by Donia, the queen of the Winter Court, Seth decides that the only solution to his problems is for him to become a faery as well. Sorcha, the High Queen of Faerie, agrees to help Seth. She grows fond of Seth, and soon they have a strong bond much like that which exists between a mother and son.

Not knowing what Seth has done, or where he is, Aislinn tries to build a new life for herself without Seth. The fear of war hangs over all the courts, and it is vital that the leaders of the courts find a way to coexist, because if they don’t violence will ensue and both the worlds of the fey and humans will be devastated.

This is the third title in the Wicked Lovely series, and listeners who enjoyed the earlier titles will find this recording captivating and intriguing. Characters evolve in interesting ways, and listeners will be eager to find out how Aislinn and her friends get through the political and emotional maelstrom that surrounds them.
