"Spring has sprung" and Nanny has decided that Eloise needs a new hat. Quickly Eloise sets about finding a new hat. Unfortunately the items which Eloise finds to put on her head do not meet with Nanny's approval. When Eloise puts on a lampshade which she finds in the lobby of the Plaza Hotel Nanny tells her that she needs to find a "real hat."

Eloise then proceeds to do just that, only this time she takes the hats that belong to other people. First the chef's hat is appropriated. Then she takes the hat that belongs to one of the people who works in room service. Finally, when she is told she needs a hat that is "pretty" Eloise takes the hat of one of the hotel guests. Needless to say the lady in question is not pleased. Poor Nanny, what can she do to stop Eloise from going on a hat rampage?

In this delightfully funny early readers book young children will get to meet (or get reacquainted with) on the world's most precocious little girls. Once again Eloise gives her Nanny a hard time but thankfully Nanny knows just what to do to get her naughty little charge under control. Perfectly suited for children who are just learning to read for themselves, this is one in a series of Eloise early readers.
