Dog loves books. In fact, he loves books so much that he decides to open a bookstore. With care, he chooses books and shelves them. He gets everything ready until…it is the day of his Grand Opening. Eagerly Dog opens the door and he prepares to greet his first customers, “but there was no one there.”
Dog tries not to get too despondent, and in the end, he turns to his beloved books. Within their pages Dog can have glorious adventures, and he can also forget that he is waiting for someone to come into his shop.
With her expressive illustrators and her minimal text, Louise Yates tells a timeless story that readers of all ages will be able to appreciate. Best of all perhaps, the author reminds us that though having a book is wonderful, being able to share it with others is better still.
