This interesting title is unique because it is a combination of formats. The book is divided into the four seasons by thick brightly illustrated boards. Within each board there is an informative mini picture book. For each season the well written text describes the weather, climate, the plants and animals, and other aspects of the season that affect our lives. For example, the section about spring describes how painters and musical composers were inspired to create works of art and music by what they saw in the springtime.

The author also finds special ways to engage the reader. In the section about summer the author invites the reader to write down his or her memories of the summer months. In the winter section the author makes suggestions on how to create a feeding station for birds and other animals.

A title that can be enjoyed throughout the year, "Discovering the Seasons" would make a wonderful addition to any child?s library.
