Let us spend the day with the ocean, watching its moods alter, see the animals come and go, see the sky and water change colour as the day grows, blooms, and wanes. This is a portrait of a day "at the edge of the vast, wild, mysterious ocean." It is fascinating to 'watch' the changes that take place as the pages turn in this very beautiful and wonderfully written little book. One can almost hear the waves crash on the beach, see the birds wheeling around in the sky above, and watch the children collecting shells and stones as they explore the beach.

At the back of the book the author includes descriptions of some of the creatures that are pictured in the book. The reader can find out more about shells, the lobster, the bluefish and much more.
