Though we cannot always see them, there are insects everywhere. They live inside books, they bore holes in the beams of our houses, they skate across the surface of ponds, and the buzz and flutter around our gardens.

The bugs in this book are not like the bugs that live in our world. Many are a lot bigger than our typical bees and ladybugs, and they all seem to have a very definite attitude. Though some of the bugs in this book look like insects that we might meet as we go about our lives, most do not. They are wonderfully strange and often bizarre, and children are going to have a splendid time exploring the book’s bug-filled world.

On every spread funny verse accompanies a scene that is packed with interesting and often amusing details. There are always children in the scene who are interacting with the bugs in one way or another. Sometimes they seem to be having a good time, and sometimes they are thoroughly fed up of the bugs that are all around them.
